Fukubukuro (Lucky Bags) unwrapped

I’ll be updating this post the more reveals I find. Most of the pictures are from the brand’s mixi communities.

Since all the fukubukuro have been on sale pictures keep popping up of the reveal. I’ll be hunting more pics down as they come up so check back even if I’m posting above it.

Some nice, if not a little too simple pieces.

DIA
I really like they didn’t fall into the jacket + onepiece + skirt + shirt repetition some brands have. They’re known for their fun shirts, so it’s cool they stuck with it. Love the zebra one.

Glad News
all items from the current season, nothing new in the fuku

Gilfy
Several different sets 5 in total available. Lots of reprints of old items or old items some from even 2008, but it all still looks chic.

Golds Infinity
The owner of the fuku said it was a bit too too black.

Heaven and Earth

Moussy
also bootcut and skinny denim jeans

Delyle
Love the jacket! It comes in white, pink or black arm sleeves.

Lip Service

Really happy I ordered this set. Love the tank OP and Shorts bottoms combination. All new and good spring pieces.

Liz Lisa

Princess Boston. I love this dress.
Princess Carry
Modeling of the Princess carry. Seems the shirt is different.

One*Spo
Echos their season, but all new items. A cute collection.

reinda
A pretty boring set, but only 8000 yen

I love the idea of shoes. Although I worry about sizing. Possibly getting this bag. Also there’s a rumored cardigan sweater inside.

valentines high

Who has the best fuku in your eyes?

3 more weeks, and a quick jump to Osaka

Tons of gals sitting around Centaagai doing their make-up like old times.
This was at 10:30 when trains wind down so they quickly dispersed after this picture and only so many were gathered for 10 minutes. This is so not common on Centaagai, instead most use the “center street” to actually walk to another place. But it was nostalgic and rare so enjoy the nostalgia with me. ❤

Lip Service Roomwear!
Oh lawdy. I do not want to leave my house anymore. I think people could become hikkikomori because Lip Service roomwear was bought. The roomwear and Betty Boop release opened Friday and they had such pieces!
IN LOVE!
It’s the center one, a two piece set!
I really was lusting over the onsie on the left, but onsies aren’t that practical to sleep in, they’re just cute.
I want to buy more! >_<;;
I also got the Betty Boop set, but I’ll post that later since it’s actual clothing not just lazy bed manatee clothing.
Men’s Egg PlaYz

I was out and about in Shibuya and I hear a truck passing blasting music. This is a really common way for musicians to advertise themselves in Japan. Ne-Yo and Enimenem also had trucks blasting their music when their records hit Japan. But I turn to see this!

Mens EGG got a music group
The music group is called PlaYz, and sounds a bit Johnnys-kei, aka typical male group pop. The five members are: Ayumu (who got a major make-over… or make-under?), Yukihide, Katsumi, Kazuaki and Yuki, all Men’s Egg models.
In this pic it does look a bit like 4 twinks and their leather daddy.
As for the quality of their music, judge for yourself:

Their video has gotten 240,000+ views which livedoor says is good. This is from their “mini-album” Love on the Street. Time will tell on their staying power. Although this is absolutely not what I want for my Men’s Egg Night ^_^;;;

Weekend fun

Friday day after classes I headed to 109 to pickup my Lip Service roomwear + Betty Boop dress. I also got an adorable set from One*Spo ❤

Using the clean mirror and the clean room.
Jacket: h&m
Shirt: Moussy
Shorts: Zara
Leggings: tutuHA
My Lippy girls were shocked I was so casual, but sigh… school sometimes makes you ultra casual ^_^;;

I was trying to un-lazy myself so I went for fluffy hair and a cashmere beret from One*Spo for the night.
Doll eyes with thick low seperation on the lower eyelashes.
Tip: use a clear eyelash adhesive for the bottom, go for black on the top lashes
I look dazed here <_<;;

I was channeling Rin with a One*Spo set and pigtails. It was gold night with Onespo good love and gold eyeshadow from MAC.
Good weekend. Possibly too much drinking, but it was insanity/good to end Saturday night but eating ramen in Kabukicho and chatting with bosozoku from Kyoto and surrouded by OraOra boys, hosts and hostesses at 7 in the morning on Sunday.

Onward, ho!

I am soon to be ending my stay in Japan. I head back to Houston on December 17th for a while. At least until Summer if not until Fall. I’m sad of course, because I love the shopping, the style, my daily grind and my good friends here. However, I love my man and miss my animals. Also, Texas is a pretty damn awesome place.

Yo Persians, imma let you finish, but my Luna has the best flat face ever!

Japanese hats for cats, so wrong so rightt
Disapproving basset hound sees what you did thar

When people in the US and Japan ask me if I like living here, I find I can’t give a simple yes/no answer anymore. It’s a whole lot more complicated than that. Without going into a 8 paragraph discussion on it, I will simply say those who think Japan is OMGYAYPONIEZHARAJUKUAWEZOMMMEZ have not lived here for a long time.

Japan just isn’t the endgame for me. My man works in the States and I would like to be a college professor and going to graduate school happens in America. I do plan to go back to teach English in Japan for a while before actually starting graduate school, but the rules will definitely change since as a working stiff my ability to do several gal fashion trends that I like will be limited (weekend gal love). So right now, ignoring the hardships of living here, is a really special time for me to enjoy and dress for myself the way I want to present myself.

Of course I will continue to report on gal fashion and I have way too many saved posts on genres that I need to step-up and post ^_^; At most it will just be six months until I move back here, so only directly shopping for Spring will escape my grasp ^_^;;

I will be away in Osaka for 2 days this week, I just can’t seem to stay away. ❤

…that is all

Christmas at 109

It’s not Christmass or even X-mas, it’s X-Madonna at 109!

Christmas-time is a big shopping celebration at 109, but of course Christmas is a date night here. The #1 date night. That means party and date dresses pop up in 109 stores. I know people think it might be for New Years, but New Years is actually more of the family event in Japan with soba and Hatsumode. Stores usually also have freebies this time of year to get people into the buying mood more.

I am currently hunting for a party dress to take back to the States for NYE, there are a lot of options now at 109 ^_^v

Lip Service in Christmas

Lip Service has put out another catalog and it’s filled with all the dreamy goodness a girl could want for Japanese Christmas.

Fabulous looks by the Jelly girls. It really plays into the single girl or girl getting ready for a date. I love the couple underwear on the last page. Too cute!

Lip Service also has a relationship with Nuts (as seen previously) and they toted Lip’s new line in their January issue (yes both Jelly and Nuts are already out with their January issues ^_^;;). I love their riders coat and the Betty Boop dress looks cute paired with their bowtie.
I think that ribbon corset velveteen dress is cute, and possibly for New Years. What do you think? Yay or nay on that dress?
Their first roomwear collectionr releases this Friday (11/27). Their eyemasks look luxurious, so I am tempted to buy them.
Of course since the glasses freebie set and eyeset came out last Friday you know I had to get my purchasing on. *sigh* I know 3 of the staff-chans there. We chat when they’re free.

New shoes from Lip Service!
My first Lippy pair! Love the stud detailing on the ankle strap.
On the Betty Boop catalog page the model is wearing the red version of these.
I also nabbed the Christmas gift set.
Eyelashes + eyelash glue + body lotion. A clever gal set.
The were three eyelash choices, I chose the Cool set, which (hopefully) you can see purple on the outer corners of the lashes. It looked striking without being drag queen on my staff-chan.
Lip Service’s freebie is the his and hers glass set with tealight candle and holder. I really like this freebie ❤

Lip Service also had a great set price on 1 cropped cardigan (your choice of color) + 1 shirt (3 designs in different colors) + velteen pumpkin shorts (choice of colors).
I think this was a cool idea to have options within a set and “financial condition” (lol)
One*Spo
One*Spo has had some adorable stuff in, but recently it’s outfit sets that are made with jackets to short for the talls.
I couldn’t resist their loose top combining lace and Union Jack trends. I also like how the skirt is really just attached on and only gives the illusion of a 2 piece.

Heaven and Earth
I usually always browse this store, but never buy anything. The look they do tends to be outweighed by the bolder and in-your-face Glad News. However, since last year Heaven and Earth has been concentrating more on an OraOra look. IMO Barak, TutuHA and Heaven and Earth are the best makers of this look. It’s very monotone with a skull and animal print theme and it’s often categorized by a worn look with damage, slashes, and cutaways. Grey, black, white and khaki seem to be the mesh of colors.
Slashes with a thin skull extra lining in the front. More slashes on the upper back.

Soft nubbly hoodie with faint skull print.
One thing I can’t get over is how comfortable their pieces are. Their fit, loose cuts and long lengths work awesome with tall people. I’ll definitely be shopping here again.

MAC
Of course it’s hard to shop and ignore make-up shopping. I pass the MAC counter at Tokyu Hands in Shibuya Station most everyday and it just calls me to come in >_<; Their new seasonal collection called Magic, Mirth and Mischief has tons of cute shades. I recommend checking out their pretty holiday looks.

MAC Lightful. A great moisterizer before make-up and recommended for dry winters.
Mineralize eyshadow duo in Mayhem (MM&M collection)
Dazzle Glass in Jingle Jangle (MM&M collection)
I’m looking forward to Christmas!

I came, I saw, I shopped.

After not doing a shopping post in a while it’s downright intimidating to show how much I went crazy on. It got instantly cold here in Tokyo so I felt the need to stock up on winter pieces. And I did… ^_^;;

Disney

My purchases from my trip to Tokyo Disney Sea.

Washcloth and bathing headband
The cute headband
Halloween mask and blinky ring
(everyone at Disney wears a hair accessory hat/plushie/mask)
Marie passcase and hairbow ❤ Marie
Glad News
I thought GN was going to have a horrid winter judging by their early releases, but I was happily wrong. Love all their fun prints!
New leopard fake fur coat w hoodie!!
Pic from the GN site
They finally got this comfy sweatshirt dress back in! Luvs it

Love this crazy faux multilayered hoodie
On with hotpants from Ascent Gem
This and the shirt below was 2 for $40
GN shirt and new skirt from Zara
Crazy print close-up
More skull love from GN and plaid shirt from Zara
Zara
Lately I’ve been really liking some Zara pieces. Since it’s in Centaagai a lot of gals shop there.
Along with the plaid shirt and leopard skirt I got this combo
Shorts + shirt for $40.00
Black damage shorts seem to be really trending ATM
Lip Service
Continuing their excellent Winter!
My new leather “rider” jacket from Lippy. Love the high collar
Catalog pic (one on the left)
Leopard scarf, sigh I keep buying so much leopard ^_^;;;
Pretty lavendar onepiece and accessories
Party bag and digicam case with detachable strap
Tutuha
My first purchase from tutuHA! A giant stud belt bag ❤
…I love winter clothes!!

Shibuya 109 English Guide – The Magazine

WTF!?

Just this bast week Glitter decided to put out Shibuya 109 English Guidebook. The thing is… it’s all in English! To make it worse, it’s distributed everywhere. From bookstores to conbinis. (edited cus I went ranty) But why in the world was it created and distrubuted? It’s not like English speaking loving gals are in the tons in Japan. We’re a tiny group!! I know Japanese love shirts with English sayings on them, but not a whole damned magazine! Its target audience is overseas, yet it’s filling the Tokyo area >_< WTF

The magazine itself is produced by Glitter, and continously gives off the impression of a Japanese magazine trying to look like a Western magazine. White backgrounds? Celeb cover? White models (who often look more frightening than gal)? It constantly misses the mark for me. It’s neither an English style mag nor a good laid out Japanese magazine.

It also has a two page spread on underwear. Western women tend to have larger frames and often grow breasts quicker and uhhh larger than Japanese women. A C cup would be impossible in those stores, which is a common bra size for Western women. Personally at 34D I’m seen as a freak of nature by Japanese standards. Japanese bras are just not a selling point for half or more of Western women >_<

…however it has many good points, beyond the pitfalls it steps into

Pluses

Two page history of 109 and somewhat of gal
It brushes over some aspects and spikes of yester-gal times, but it does give a sense of history. Personally I didn’t know there was a competition in 2004 to bring new designers to the forefront of 109, and that one of my perennial favorites, Gilfy, won it!

Five pages of mostly shop-staff in currently in-store looks
Maybe I am biased because my two favorite shop staff: One*spo’s Kie-chan and Lip Service’s Mai-chan are in it. Aren’t they cute! Their personalities are just as cute. They are everyday gals dressed in the shop’s most current looks. Egg’s street snaps are often month’s old or showing only 1 or 2 shopstaff.

(see both below)

The rest of the magazine doesn’t really show styling that seems gal, but the shop staff are great models of a store’s stylistic direction. Instead of catalogs featuring Hoshiaya or Tsubasa, these people for regular shoppers are the face of a brand.

Don’t get me wrong, while I think the gal styling is off on this and they went at this magazine the wrong way, there is still a ton of useful information in here for the beginner gal.

I am sure this mag will get scanned, but for now browse below or all 36 images in a handy zip filehere (cus I <3)

Styles of Covergirl Nicole Richie and their interpretations of her looks from gal shops.
I honestly am not a fan of this since it’s Westernizing gal not galifying Western looks, yanno ^_^;;.

her make frightens me (where’s GalMori when you need it?)

Age appropriate? Co&Lu is meant for 15-18 yr olds, she looks more adult than that <_<;;

Marine for Fall/Winter? Very summery >_<
These have been blended with black in stylings though >_< Not together!
The most current gal look in the magazine IMO, love the pop of color

My Kie-chan <333

Mai-chan <3!

Love this denim
Great JSG looks, love the metallic leggings
1/4 of the magazine is blocks like this by floor discussing their own brand.

Talk of all the new 8th floor stores
A nice touch for tourists

This week in random: Sakurina, Lip Service catalog, Puri, 109 openings, etc…

I will currently be a little slow updating since a friend’s vigorous hug has left me with a bruised rib and detached cartillage…ouch! Slowly more….^__^;;;

Typhoon…kinda

This week started off with what forecasters were calling a massive typhoon, but typhoon Melor only came with some rain and a little wind. Mainly pissing off everyone in Japan (including me) who was rearranging their schedules because of the incoming weather. -____-;;

Photoshoot
On my daily commute I was heading past Hachiko crossing and saw a Men’s Egg photoshoot. Honestly I was unsure if it was Umeshan or one of the newer models since they have all been fed a steady diet of Umeshan to the point of being clones.

Sakurina + Buffalo Bob’s Renewal
Saturday afternoon was Sakurina’s appearance at 109-2 Buffalo Bob’s renewal. She is part of the fall ad campaign for them, so that’s why she made a meet and greet. However it was wildly flawed. 10 staff for such a small store had them all spilling out and their hiring practices left much to be desired since Buffalo Bob’s only sells suits and host suit accessories, however the staff-tachi were all looking a little more Men’s Non-no than Host Knuckle. It was sadness 😦

The current campaign

The new Buffalo Bob’s store complete with scrolling LED sign

All around the event was poorly planned and executed. Sakurina was sitting by the side and only did meet and greet for those who bought the set (which was 2 people while we were there, yeah awesome idea BB).

The set. Are those droopy drawers, BB?

The rest of the people watching were corralled by a grumpy security guard who used all his authority to police the crowd of 15 mostly made up of schoolgirls. Honestly at 2:00 in the afternoon on a Saturday most hosts, hostesses and party people are waking up from the night before not dressed to shop.

And this was the good secret pic I got to get off

I did however go in and was helped by the one staff who looked slightly host-kei and bought my man a tie. Buffalo Bobs isn’t really my style, but they did have some sexy accessories.

Sakurina herself looked absolutely adorable, and her hair was still short although it looked much more blonde than in pictures. She had a helper fixing her earrings or hair when needed. I must say her nails glittered from across the room. RED! They were fierce! A photographer was buzzing around taking pics of everything so I am sure they will show up on BB’s website and Knuckle soon.

Kentarou showed up and when he waved to a set of high school girls clad in Cocolulu they all squealed. He looked unhealthily skinny while amazingly enough Sakurina looked tiny, but not unhealthy.

My friend and I scoped the rest of 109-2 and he nabbed a vest from xfrm and a gorgeous golden champagne shirt with slight leopard print and diamond fasteninings from Wild Party. Yuiichi his staffkun at Wild Party was calling us “Beautiful Prince and Beautiful Princess” in broken English. He also said “I’m a crazy boy!” lol ohhh Japan ❤

Lady 109 and the new stores

Crazy giant steaming udon bowl in front of 109

I had enough of boys stores (who sadly lack hot men working there most of the time), and we went over to 109 regular to grab some Milk Tea from SBY and scope out the new 8th floor that opened on Friday (as I tweeted about previously). Many of the stores looked very teen-oriented and Ame-kaji hinted. w<3c had one of the best stores with giant stuffed animals that had decoed sparkle eyes. The store was packed with teens.

Acsent Gem had the best new looks IMO. While it reminded me of Glad News and Gilfy, Acsent Gem had a style of its own. Great colors, fun prints, and loved the store front. I nabbed their sequined hotpants, that are reversible. Recession-friendly 2 way clothing is a big trend right now.

1 way
2 way

I also stopped by One*Spo and nabbed some items, along with Lip Service. They have a fabulous just new in dress that I had to nab, since apparently I seem to own every dress from their current season ^___^;; They have a new catalog out and it is not Hoshiaya but other Nuts girls filling in. Love the layout!

Love the slit sleeves
Sorry for these shots, they’re printed on shinier lesser quality paper than the previous catalog
My fave dress and piece of the catalog
New novelties! Even a blanket ❤ I need to remember to shop on those days
Love the cardigan/leggings combination (bottom middle)
Puri!

My friend and I also took puri afterwards. Urgh hungover hair/face is hungover.

New Nails, Lip Service x Nuts at Club Atom

I went to Carry in Ikebukuro to get a new nail set.
My nailist wonderfully dealt with my lateness and my sleep-deprived Japanese. ^_^;;  She loves Romihi from Egg but her favorite is Kaoru and wishes she would come back after her pregnancy. She went with her boyfriend to an onsen in Gunma for Silver Week and joked how gaijin cannot take the heat. I admit I felt farely wussy during my onsen stay. I need some cold water sippy sippy to keep boiling ^_^;; She was quite fun and told me she quit school 2 years into highschool and then later became a nailist. Quitting high school is not as rare in Japan, or maybe I think less of a stigma is attached since the boys and girls probably not in salaryman/office lady goals before they decided to quit.
Back to nails… I wanted some bold colors and I have been trying to be anti-pink lately with nails.
The glitter for the purple and blue was done by laminating actual glitter with clear coat over 5 times for each nail. She dipped a clear coat nail polish brush into glitter and then repeatedly swept it over.
large “rivoli” Swarovski crystals (like in my HK tux nails) were mounted next to each other and she also used black chessboard, crystal and black swarovski stones to create the effect.
I’m thinking of these as my planetary nails. ^_^v
Lip Service x Nuts night at Club Atom
I took a few friends to Club Atom and we arrived just before midnight (the usual 1,000 yen + 2 drinks for girls applies til 12:00) to find it packed with a line outside. I forgot that Nuts was invading Shibuya for the day. I was busy in hair and nail appts so I couldn’t see them at 109. The models from Nuts then headed to Atom to show new items from Lip Service (as I tweeted about)!
I got in just to see the fashion show start (some of the looks from this catalog). Hiromi looked stunning! If I had her bone structure I’d rock short hair, too. Girls and boys alike kept saying to each other “minna kawaii” and it’s true all the girls looked great. Saki looked a bit like a gaijin but she was gorgeous in the Leopard coat. Hoshiaya was the star of the event, and while the girl can’t walk a catwalk she did rouse up the audience. I’ve mentioned that she’s not my favorite in the past, but she has great worked out arms. It’s hard ever to see women in Japan who choose to workout seriously, but it’s obvious she has. Nice job.

First few ladies got little Lip Service free scrunchies which were adorable.  Sorry no pictures from me, CLUB Atom is notorious for its bouncers getting grumpy about any shots being taken. Sometimes at Men’s Egg Nights and such they can’t stop the barrage of cell phone shots, but last night was different.

It was much too hot of a night and too packed with people for me to feel the night, but I will vouch the girls looked quite amazing. Go Nuts!
I can’t wait for that sweater dress on the right to come out!

images from DJ Ozawa and Akane Suda‘s blogs respectively.
Tonight in honor of Tokyo Rave’s 8th anniversary, Maison Gilfy is doing a show. But sadly… I’m a tired girly^_^;;

Freebies and Traveling Doll

Travel

The Doll is with her man and heading to Osaka, Fukuoka and possibly Busan, Korea for Silver Week. Hurrah for travel! Pics and report to follow!

Freebies

There are a bunch of great freebies from spending at your local favorite store during Silver Week. Egoist has a cute coffee mug that looks like a fake Starbucks travel mug.

Currently gotten freebies:

The aforementioned One*Spo belt holder
10th anniversary and Silver Week celebration Liz Lisa’s combination belt, keyholder, cellphone charm. This Swiss army knife of cute. Love the ribbons ❤

The culmination of buying once every fair from Lip Service. Their chic butane powered portable curling iron with Vidal Sassoon. Complete with travel case and clips ❤

Lip Service, Cecil McBee opening and more.

Lip Service

It seems like any more I plug Lip Service I might get paid by them to do so, but you just can’t stop a good love affair. I bought 2 tunics, 1 shirt, a scarf and a necklace. None of them over $40.00! Everything was amazingly reasonably priced and they had lots of sexy basics. I was trusting Egoist last year for their sexy basics, but they feel a little out of trend this season.

Onto the loot…!

Great tunic top with Halloween flair

Cute monotone top

Funky color leopard print giant scarf

I tried to photoshop to color match the purple, but everything fails.
I want shoes to match this great onepiece/cardi!

I feel like I can enjoy rotating these pieces and they all would look rockin’ with the current vest, jacket, studs love.

Cecil McBee

They just opened at new store at Lumine Est at the bottom floor. Now there are oddly two Cecil McBee stores in Lumine Est, but hopefully it’s just through transition. The new store is wonderfully set-up and well lit. It felt so much easier to shop through and well divided.

My long-time shop staff from 4th floor Cecil was working there. She runs up to meet and speaks 50 miles an hour, but she is fabulous. We looked through their new catalog (pics later) and pointed to different ideas.

My staff girl Arisa on the left with another Cecil staff girl.
I asked to take a pic for my blog…oh how embarrassing, but she’s such a good sport.

I was not a fan of the plaid, but it’s growing on me. I also like the layering sets (which this month’s Nuts talks about).

Casual plaid tunic that stops perfectly mid-arm for relaxing fall style. (bought!)

It wasn’t fab on me, but it’s a cool print (not bought!)

They had layering style all for one price. Love using all the pieces seperately.

Valentines High

I’m usually not a big shopper of this store. I love pink, but this place always seems to be dripping with too much pink. However, I couldn’t resist the cute set.

Love the ribbon details.

Mar*s

Shinjuku EST display

Has been taking advantage of the set craze and putting out some cute jacket + dress combinations. At the Honten party I preordered one and keep loving the jacket. However lots of cute ones have come along.

I didn’t like the dress on me, but I’m in love with this rider!

The zipper pull alone is fabulous!

Set from the Mar*s store blog.
Silly stupid jacket, how I want you.
I passed up on this set, but …only time will tell if I continue to do so ^_^;

Other things in Alta and Lumine EST

Reinda had some lovely adult looks going on.

Delyle advertising for its second Shinjuku store opening up in the same month :o!
